Transitioning your fleet to being fully electric, so it is more sustainable in the long run, requires large investments of time, energy, and effort. However, there are several steps that you can take to help your organisation become more sustainable in the short term. Choosing the right tires is one of them.

Engagement

At Bridgestone, sustainability is at the core of our business. Due to climate change and declining biodiversity, we are committed to playing our part by innovating and pioneering tyres with the aim of becoming a more sustainable solutions company by 2050.

To achieve this, Bridgestone implemented a sustainable strategy for every stage of the process, from the raw materials to the end of life/recycling stage. Our objective is to use 100% sustainable materials by 2050 by contributing to sustainable production of natural rubber, reducing the volume of raw materials needed for each tyre, and increasing the ratio of renewable and recycled materials.

How can Bridgestone be an asset for you and your fleet?

Across the tyre’s life cycle, 87% of the total CO2 emissions are generated when using the tyre. To achieve our goal, Bridgestone is reducing energy consumption and cutting harmful emissions as well as reducing the volume of raw materials for our tyres.

Bridgestone is working to decarbonize our manufacturing footprint by maximising energy efficiency, increasing our use of renewable energy, and enhancing a circular economy. In fact, pioneering smarter and more fuel-efficient tyres has helped us to reduce our rolling resistance by 23% since 2005 which helped save 13.4 million tonnes of CO2 in 20191. In fact, our new Ecopia innovation, engineered for fuel efficiency, will provide you with year-round performance, regardless of the season, as well as a long wear life.

Electric future

As part of our commitment to shape a sustainable future of mobility, we are supporting the adoption of EVs across the region. For car fleets, we build partnership with leading EV manufacturers that can provide you with fleet and mobility solutions as well as an EV-ready retail and service network.

Sustainability at the end of life

Investing in a circular economy is thus important for us. Therefore, we are building a whole ecosystem for end-of life tyres which will lead us towards 100% circularity. To achieve this, there are two options are available to improve your sustainability:

Recycling
Bridgestone uses and reuses recycled materials in our value chain each year, including 20,000 tonnes of recycled rubber2. We’re also investing to increase the amount of recycling that we do with the ultimate aim of achieving circularity in tyres.

Retreading
To reduce our environmental footprint, Bandag retreads offers sustainable solutions by extending the tyre life of premium casings. Retreaded tyres significantly reduces your cost by kilometre, comparable to a 30% reduction compared to a new tyre3, and its manufacturing process generates up to 48% fewer CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions than new tyres4 – without any reduction in quality.
