Bridgestone makes spectacular motocross move

Bridgestone is gearing up for its most active association in motocross for many years, with a clutch of talented riders confirmed to ride on its Battlecross range, to supplement two high-octane competition partnerships.

Building on an impressive presence in the sport, the world’s number one tyre and rubber company1 will boast its biggest stable of stars to date, who will compete on its X10, X20, X30 and X40 tyres. A title sponsorship of the British Masters MX Championship, which will begin in March, has also been confirmed along with Bridgestone’s first association with the HIMX Hawkstone International on February 11, which will play host to the best riders in the world, not to mention the most talented competitors at domestic level. Bridgestone will display its critically acclaimed Battlecross tyres to enthusiasts, which will be available to purchase on the day.

This bespoke range of motocross products is widely viewed as indispensable amongst competitors, with different compounds and tread patterns specially designed for the varied surfaces that riders compete on. The Battlecross X10 (sand and mud) X20 (softer ground), X30 (medium) and X40 (hard) products help to boost confidence when entering and exiting corners at speed, whatever the racing line.

Josh Gilbert and Callum Green (HONDA Adventure Centre Team) will both compete in the British MX2 and MXY2 respective Championships, and long-term sponsored stars Rob Yates and Harry Linton will contest the Bridgestone British Masters Championship Josh Waterman will fly the flag in the AMCA MX1 Championship, while Team Apex KTM riders James Hanscomb, Ray Rowson and Nadiya Jones are all expected to shine, the latter going for gold in the AMCA Ladies’ Championship. Bridgestone is also backing the very professionally turned out Team JSR riders in the AMCA Championships.

Finally, Aaron Colley and Chad Yarranton of IDS Transport Passion Racing Midwest Husqvarna Team, Matt Treen, Ben Bird, Bill Moynes, Nigel Mills, Ieuan Harris, Henry Partridge, Josh Taylor and Ethan Etheridge, along with Team SRH Racing hopefuls Cory McShane and Rory Jones. will also be shod on Bridgestone’s Battlecross products with extra support from Cambrian Tyres, who are Bridgestone’s UK MX Tyre distributors.

Bridgestone’s sales and training development manager Mark Fereday said: “We have gradually ramped up our involvement in motocross to get to this point, where we now boast a presence with one of the most competitive series in the calendar. We have combined this with individual sponsorships of some of the UK’s most talented riders, who have secured dozens of national titles between them. The association with the HIMX Hawkstone International represents the icing on the cake for us.
