The 23rd of June is Olympic Day which commemorates the birth of the modern Olympic Games. On this day, athletes and fans from nations all over the world come together to inspire others to get moving and participate in sporting events. As a Worldwide Olympic Partner, the Bridgestone community is finding many ways to celebrate the big day.
In Europe, the Bridgestone EMEA team celebrates Olympic Day through the brand campaign “Chase Your Dream, No Matter What.” With this motivational campaign, Bridgestone encourages people of all ages, abilities and passions to find the strength to chase their dream and overcome the obstacles they face on life’s journey.
The campaign intends to spotlight outstanding Olympians — each with inspirational stories of fighting adversity. These athletes, including Daley Thompson (UK), Fabian Hambüchen(Germany), and Valeria Straneo (Italy), demonstrate how they overcame their extraordinary struggles to fulfil their sporting dreams and reach Olympic success.
Like the Olympic movement, Bridgestone understands that the journey is as important as the destination. As the first tyre company in history to join the Olympic Partner Programme, Bridgestone is embarking on a journey to endorse the fundamental principles of Olympism: Putting sport at the heart of people with the intention to promote a more peaceful world and connect us.
Bridgestone EMEA employees are already living the Olympic spirit by collecting kilometres in the name of charity and cancer prevention through an internal initiative. The initiative kicked off in January 2018, with Bridgestone employees choosing cancer prevention as the central cause. Employees could collect kilometres through walking, cycling or other physical activities – even gardening counted. In addition, monthly challenges and health and fitness advice incentivised employees to participate. An easy-to-use web platform helped employees to log the kilometres they collected.
Since launching the online platform, more than 3,200 participants joined and collected over 1 million kilometres! Whether it’s walking, cycling, swimming, running, taking the stairs or even gardening, everything counts towards reaching Bridgestone’s global goal to move more.
Olympic Day is a great opportunity to try something new and encourage friends and family to join in the fun too. But don’t wait for the next Olympics to start chasing your dreams!
We had an amazing time inspiring people to chase their dream, no matter what at this year’s Sky Sports British Masters, and want to say a huge thank you to all of you who came to visit our Bridgestone activations.
Our ambassador and double Olympic gold medalist Daley Thompson celebrated his 60th Birthday on July 30th, 2018. To mark the occasion, we created a pop-up gym on London’s Southbank to encourage people to keep moving and chasing their dreams, whatever their age.
Double Olympic gold medallist, Daley Thompson, turned 60 in July 2018. While most people would celebrate with a party, maybe even a cake, our ambassador celebrated the momentous occasion by taking on an exciting new challenge, climbing Snowdon with a group of 60+ year olds to show that age is merely a number and shouldn’t be a barrier to achieving (...)
