Bridgestone Introduces BATTLAX SC Tyres for Large Scooters

Superior Dry and Wet Performance Coupled with Reduced Pattern Noise
Tokyo (Februrary 17, 2012) — Bridgestone Corporation announced today that the new BATTLAX SC radial tyre for large scooters in Japan will be launched on April 1, 2012. The tyre will be available in two front sizes and three rear sizes.
The BATTLAX SC is the latest in Bridgestone’s lineup of large scooter radial tyres, and will feature a new tread pattern that incorporates concepts used in Bridgestone’s HYPERSPORT tyres for an enhanced level of handling. The new tread pattern also features wider grooves, which provide superior wet and dry performance. The grooves are designed with optimal volume at precise angles to greatly reduce pattern noise.
The BATTLAX series is Bridgestone's premium brand of on-road motorcycle tyres. The top of the line of BATTLAX tyres are the MotoGP class tyres used in the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) road race series for which Bridgestone is the official tyre supplier. Bridgestone offers a wide range of BATTLAX tyres, from touring to racing and from small motorcycles to large motorcycles.
With a wide lineup of motorcycle tyres, including the BATTLAX series, Bridgestone will strive to continue to support comfortable riding for many riders in the years ahead.
The BATTLAX SC will be available in Europe as replacement for maxi-scooters of 300cc and above (including Honda SH300i, Yamaha TMAX 500 and Suzuki Burgman 650) starting March 2012. The tyres will also be available in North America, Central and South America, Asia, and Oceania in the same year.

Through the optimisation of groove positioning and the use of wide grooves, the BATTLAX SC offers both comfortable handling and improved grip performance in dry and wet conditions.

The new pattern is designed based on ample consideration of the mechanism through which pattern noise occurs, allowing it to reduce pattern noise while driving at various speeds.
