All-Weather, 4x4 and winter tyres to take drivers through bitter weather

19 June 2012

With the unpredictable nature of the British weather, driving conditions can fluctuate from rain and hail to snow in what seems like a matter of seconds - having the correct tyres to handle varying weather is essential.  The Bridgestone All-Weather, 4x4 and winter weather tyre ranges offer motorists confidence and comfort throughout their drive, regardless of weather, destination or terrain.

For drivers who do not own a 4x4 but want safety and reassurance when driving in inconsistent conditions, Bridgestone’s A001 tyre meets their needs.  Classified as a M+S (Mud + Snow) tyre and rated as a snow tyre in most markets where winter tyres are required by law, it is more than able to handle multiple weather and road conditions.  As these tyres are designed to remain on a car throughout all seasons they provide a low maintenance option for motorists.

An excellent front-rear balance allows for a dynamic, easy ride with stable cornering capabilities and strong traction.   Strong grip in wet and wintry conditions, in any temperature, is provided by a special, sturdy silica compound.  The pattern is offered in an array of sizes to fit several popular small and compact car models.

The Dueler High Performance range is designed to meet the demands of even the sportiest 4x4s and is the selected tyre for a number of original equipment fitments including the BMW X5M and X6M.  It delivers exceptional safety, performance and comfort and is ideal for urban, motorway and all-terrain use, with traction achieved through a range of treads such as small block, all-season, robust all-terrain and asymmetric.

To combat hydroplaning and provide high performance wet grip, the Dueler tyre line uses “Shark Skin” technology that reduces flow resistance on groove walls and aides the draining of water away from the tyre.

Harsh off-road conditions pose no problems for the Dueler tyres as reinforced side walls enable vehicles to be driven safely even after pressure loss.  Dueler durability and grip will impress even the most rugged and adventurous drivers.

A relatively recent release, Blizzak LM-80, is ideal for 4x4 owners that reside in areas that are more affected by harsh winters and heavy snow.  The tyre has a uni-directional tread with a high transversal groove volume that allows for strong traction in snow and helps drivers feel more confident in moving through slush and water.  An under-tread compound and lighter construction helps lessen rolling resistance which will reduce fuel consumption.

The “Washboard” patterned sipes incorporate advanced technologies that interlock to give a stable block which acts as super edge effect grip for snow and icy conditions.  This edge effect is also bolstered by the block platform which allows for stiffness, improved braking capability and turning on winter and wet surfaces.

Andy Dingley, communications manager at Bridgestone UK, said:

“Bridgestone is determined to produce All-Weather, 4x4 and winter tyre products which give motorists a sense of security while driving in changing weather conditions and additionally offer excellent performance to make the journey more enjoyable.  We also continuously investigate new designs and options for our tyres in order to improve their safety and overall driver experience.”
