Jumping Jack flash hits the gas to win!

A Bridgestone sponsored motocross star from Gloucestershire has etched his name into folklore by winning a coveted national title by a single point, in a story to make Roy of the Rovers proud. Jack Timms, aged 20, has won the Bridgestone BSMA Clubman’s Series by the tightest of margins possible, having won his final two races of the season to get to the top of the podium in a nerveless display. The Whitminster rider was vying for the title for the entire year and pipped rival Rob Yates to the checkered flag to lift his first piece of major silverware.

Jack, who has broken his leg, his ribs and both wrists while riding his way to the top, said the winning feeling had still left him feeling a bit numb. “I knew I had to win my final two races of the season at Condover, Shropshire, to do it, and I knew I was capable, but there was so much pressure on me to do it. “In motocross, you know that one mistake could cost you everything, so the feeling when I finally did it was amazing. It is a season of hard work and sacrifices coming together in one moment. “You get a lot of recognition for winning the Bridgestone Clubman’s Series and I want to use the success to spur me on to even greater thin in the future.”

Jack will be defending his title in 2016 and will also participate in the AMCA Championship for the first time, where some of the nation’s most talented riders will be taking part. Bridgestone’s sales and training development manager Mark Fereday was a particularly proud onlooker when Jack beat a competitive field in the final round to turn a dream into a reality. Mark said: “You really couldn’t have scripted an ending like this. There were so many twists and turns over the course of the season and to secure the title by such a fine margin made for incredible viewing.

“Bridgestone has been sponsors of Jack for 12 months and we’ve known all about his natural ability on the bike for a long time now. “To see him succeed like this and to turn all that potential into a result like this is immensely satisfying and we would like to be the first to congratulate Jack on an incredible effort.”
